Various models are being elaborated to estimate how electric vehicles, the charging infrastructure, charging behaviour and other factors develop. This helps government bodies and market parties to anticipate the increasing number of electric vehicles.
How are public charging points used? This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the utilization of public charging infrastructure in a metropolitan area existing of four city centers and the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Are we ready for the projected growth of electric mobility over the next 5 years? This study provides input for policy makers to prepare for public charging infrastructure of the future.
Urban planning with real data. It forms the basis of a model that allows you to choose what developments can be expected for electric transport given certain parameters. This will enable authorities, grid operators and market parties to acquire a reliable picture of what they will need to fine-tune their policy and strategy to.
This research predicts the short-term availability of charging points at a given location and time by using the historical charging data in a space-time series model. The model shows better accuracy with respect to a naive method for short term predictions up to one day. This will allow charging point operators to provide customers with the service of looking up estimated charging point availability in the nearby future.
The plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) have great potential in the near future to be connected in a large number to the power systems. In particular, PEVs are able to provide different types of power system ancillary services. The capability of storing energy and the instantaneous active power control of the fast-switching converters of PEVs are two attractive features that enable PEVs to provide various ancillary services, e.g., primary frequency control (PFC).
